ThinkData CEO Named Board Member of Ontario Capital Growth Corporation

TORONTO, ON - September 16th 2020 — ThinkData Works, Inc. (ThinkData), co-founder and CEO Bryan Smith has been appointed as a Board Member for the Ontario Capital Growth Corporation for the Government of Ontario.
The OCGC is the venture capital agency of the Government of Ontario, created to promote and develop the venture capital sector in Ontario, to assist high potential technology companies access capital vital to grow and prosper.
The OCGC was established as an agency by the Ontario Capital Growth Act, 2008. In accordance with the Act, the OCGC:
- makes investments in venture capital funds and technology companies;
- administers its limited partnership interests in externally-managed funds;
- provides advice to the Province on venture capital matters; and
- supports the development of Ontario's venture capital ecosystem and the implementation of the Province's venture capital policies.
Smith brings extensive knowledge of the emerging technology industry and Canada’s digital history. Prior to ThinkData, Smith was Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister in the Treasury and Budget Office, where he was directly involved in the development and implementation of Canada’s Open Data Portal – the first open data initiative in the country. Smith was also the foreign liaison for Canada’s involvement in the Open Government Partnership and the political liaison for Canada’s Digital and Data Strategy.
ThinkData’s growth within the startup ecosystem among enterprise businesses gives him ground-level knowledge of what it takes to be successful.
Commenting on his appointment, Smith said,
